Interview Tips

  • Through multiple interviews you will become more knowledgeable and comfortable with the interviewing process. This self-induced confidence allows you to be yourself, and shows the potential employer what type of an employee you will be for their company. You should complete many "Practice Interviews" as soon and as often as you can so that you are well prepared before your first potential job offer.

  • Be yourself, the interviewer is looking for your true personality.

  • Remember, the purpose of the job interview is to persuade the employer that you have the skills, background, and ability to do the job and that you can comfortably fit into their organization. Everyone must understand that you are not just being evaluated on your experience and education alone, but also by your looks, personality, confidence, enthusiasm, and any other attribute that can help them decide whether or not you are right for the job. You may find out that some people get hired just because the interviewer "liked" them. Of course this is not always the case, but developing effective interviewing skills can help!

  • At the end of the interview it is common for the interviewer to ask if you have any questions for them.  It is important that you do have questions prepared in advance.  This will show the interviewer that you are interested in the position and that you have prepared in advance.  Be sure to compose thoughtful and intelligent questions that are directly related to the company and position you are applying for.  Avjobs suggests that you ask at least 3, and no more than 7 question during the first interview.

  • Last but certainly not least, Remember that interviewing is a 2 way street.  You also need to decide if you like the company. Don't accept a position if you don't feel comfortable in the interview, or after meeting and spending time with the people you will be working with.

The Avjobs Applicant Portal has the "Online Practice Interview"
The staff at Avjobs along with other industry wide personnel offices agree, the interview can make or break an applicant regardless of experience or training. It has been the experience of Avjobs and its employees that there is a "best" preparatory procedure for interviews.

The Avjobs "Online Practice Interview" section describes this preparatory process and provides tools and tips for you to be at your best.  The "Online Practice Interview" includes audio, video and hundreds of sample questions. So turn up your sound and practice those interview skills.
